ROCHESTER WOMEN’S NETWORK SPONSORS ANNUAL YWCA SPA DAY Day of Pampering Benefits Low-Income Rochester Women Rochester, NY, November 8, 2009 – Rochester Women’s Network (RWN) demonstrated its commitment to empowering and strengthening women with its annual YWCA Spa Day on Saturday, November 7, 2009. More than 30 women attended the event at the YWCA of Rochester and Monroe County on North Clinton Avenue. “Many of our clients have never had the luxury of going to a spa or even getting their nails done,” said Joan Gerrity, Director of Development for the YWCA. “For just one afternoon, our clients were able to let go of their stress and let someone else take care of them.” The 37 women who attended the Spa Day were treated to a full range of spa offerings. RWN volunteers gave manicures and led a yoga workshop. Two massage therapists chair massages, and a Mary Kay Cosmetics representative was on hand to give facials and teach makeup techniques. “To be relaxed and pampered is divine and spiritual,” said one attendee. “I do not think I could have gotten through this stressful day without it,” said another. Each attendee received a gift bag filled with samples from Mary Kay and lotions and body wash products, and they were each able to select a piece of jewelry donated by RWN members. YWCA Spa Day is an annual event sponsored and coordinated by the Community Service Committee of RWN.
